Very controversial. Ya gotta be a Southern Boy to appreciate Dixie- they will tell you that it's an American military symbol with no political overtones. John McCain, Pobresito

Today, John McCain responded to the statement from Wesley Clark that getting shot down in Vietnam did not qualify him to be President of the United States of America.

I won’t even get into the thought that Clark shouldn’t throw stones in glass houses. What I will get into is how McCain sounded in response to Clark.

McCain sounded OLD. He sounded WEAK. He sounded UNINSPIRING. He sounded like a poor soul who got mugged by a young whipper-snapper.

He sounded like someone you’d feel sorry for. I’m sure people sympathize with what he’s gone through in life.

It’s my experience that people don’t vote for candidates based on sympathy. I submit Bob Dole as Exhibit A — fought in WWII, lost the use of one of his arms, had served in the Senate many years and had one last shot at the Presidency … certainly a sympathetic figure, and well-liked to boot. Well, that sympathy was not enough to get him the votes he needed to win the 1996 Presidential election versus Bill Clinton.

To me, this current election parallels 1996. Obama is an Enneagram-type 7, like Bill Clinton … and McCain appears WAY past his prime, just like Dole.

If McCain doesn’t get a spine soon, he’s DONE! Being a sympathetic figure doesn’t get you elected.

Was Reagan a sympathetic figure? Heck, no! How about Bush — does he appear sympathetic? Certainly not!

McCain needs to get tough, fast — the way he was tough on Romney during the Primaries.

I have no idea how you came up with enneagram type 7 for Obama and Bill Clinton. They are both too smooth and care too much about what people think of them. Watch how Obama keeps changing himself to be what people want him to be. He quit his church because of the controversy and now he’s wearing that flag pin because it makes him “look” more patriotic. He’s all about image. I just wish he had more substance! He’s letting himself get pushed around constantly. Take a look at Type 3.

Wesley Clark…not even going to go there. Like you said, not even worth the time to pick apart his comments to see Clark’s agenda or history. In short, he’s now a talking head.

Re: How McCain’s sympathy won’t get him votes. This is true, but come November on PPV, the old man will beat the upstart in photo finish, similar to the last few elections we have had.

Yes, everything you said about McCain’s aura is true; it’s a turn off for people 35 and younger.

But when push comes to shove, the people that actually vote in general elections- White Middle America, Hispanics, senior citizens, and disgruntled Republicans will vote for the safe choice come November- John McCain.

    I’m J-Ja-I mean John M-McCain, and I-I app-approve this mess, er, message.

To quote from Understanding the Enneagram, page 220, from the Chapter Misidentifications:

“unhealthy Sevens in a manic phase have grandiose delusions similar to the grandiose feelings of self-esteem we find in narcissistic Threes. The difference is that Sevens are grandiose about their plans … Sevens have great expectations about their future activities. When they become manic, everything seems possible for them … For better or worse, Sevens do not censor themselves and can be funny, outspoken, vulgar, ill mannered, and outrageous….”

The MEDIA is attempting to project Obama as a smooth three, but if you look at his missteps (the flag pin, the new Presidential Seal), his sarcasm directed at Hillary during the New Hampshire debate, his strongly worded defense of his wife, his positive words about Reagan … the MEDIA is sweeping these things under the wrong, but it is clear that he’s unpolished, particularly when he’s not reading from a teleprompter.

Susan, if you want to take a look at a type 3, examine Wesley Clark. He is unfunny, smooth, egotistical … he’s an image man. Not Obama.

I watched the Wesley Clark interview and he complimented McCain through out the interview , I did not see an attack on him, I was shocked when the evening news used that and made it look like he attacked McCain. He said he was a hero and served his country with honor.

I would suggest anyone that thinks it was attack to look up the entire show and watch it, you will be shocked with what they media did. But lets face it hateful headlines sells better then happy ones.

The show was Face the Nation.

Sad they made a fellow military man look petty.

Mr. Clark said, “Well, I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.” This may be true, but to many people, Mr. Clark may seem to be diminishing Mr. McCain’s service. Let’s face it. Most of us will never know the kind of sacrifice this man made for his country. To do anything but honor it is, again, just politically stupid.

While I’m certainly not a Democratic voter, I actually have to give Obama a lot of credit for how respectful he has been of McCain’s military service.

Obama has made it clear that he honors McCain’s sacrifices and service (as should we all). And he’s also made it clear that he doesn’t appreciate these baseless attacks on McCain’s military service. It reminds me of the way McCain stood up for John Kerry during that whole “swift boat” character assassination in 2004.

It appears we’ve got two decent, honorable men in the race. There’s something to be said for that, regardless of who wins.

Someone on the democratic side is criticizing McCain for his military service? Hardly unexpected with the low-level “unconnected” smear machines you get on all sides in an election, but disappointing.

He may not have fought the big fights, being a prisoner and all, and he broke under torture? So what. The story as I read it says that due to his father’s high rank in the military he was offered the opportunity to be exchanged for enemy prisoners, but declined because it would mean leaving the others behind.

That’s heroic enough in my book, and I’ve never heard it said it wasn’t true.

But in light of his own personal experience (not to mention the point where people will do anything to make the torture stop) I am even more disappointed with the seeming erosion of his stand against torture.

any halfway skilled individual who’s spent a few years in art school can put a pretty picture on a page (see Joe Quesada). the talent of a good comic book artist lies in their ability to tell a story with their pictures.

guys like Turner, Lee & the rest of the Image guys, while possessing varying degrees of skill at capturing the human form, have benefited GREATLY from the process by which today’s books are produced. The digital age has been their friend.

    Photoshop…that’s the benchmark.
