Ground Zero for the Mortgage Meltdown Part II

- Hurricane Wilma:
-- After Hurricanes Charley, Francis, Ivan, Jeanne, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma hit Florida, Louisiana, and Texas ... it made sense that a lot of people would want to sell and move north, with few buyers interested in coming down south after witnessing the damage from afar. Too many sellers, too few buyers. I went on the record at dailyskew.com and predicted home prices would begin to come down.
-- Rent was $1,000 at this time -- we moved into a house in Plantation owned by my wife's cousin -- 3/2, on a .25 acre lot. We moved in a week before Wilma struck.
-- My nephew bought a townhouse in Coral Springs. Prior to the purchase, I shared my theories with him. It didn't change his course of action.
-- After Katrina, we all got our first taste of $3.00/gallon gas.
