Greetings from Obama Country
Downtown, Miami. Near 35th street and 10th Ave. I saw an Obama "Progress" murial on a grafitti-laden wall. Someone had spray-painted horns (white horns, of course) and written "Socialist," underneath.
"It was obviously a McCain supporter," said a local.
As I drove north on 441, I saw more Obama murials that were not defaced, looking up in that iconic way, some over 8 feet tall. At the run-down Democrat headquarters, I saw a sign in the window that read: Obama. Biden. Unity.
You could feel the hope that Obama has brought the people here. It reminded me of Harlem back in the day, with MLK and Malcolm X depicted on buildings and sidewalks.
I felt like I was back home in Queens, circa 1984 ... there was a black kid walking down the street carrying a boombox. He'll lookeed at my meek ten year old self and yelled, "That's black people's music," as if he was part of something I wasn't invited to.
I smile at the memory.
Later, I interviewed an Obama supporter who said, "John Lewis didn't go far enough. McCain and Palin have whipped out that old wooden spoon and stirred up the racism in this country.
"Obama is giving people hope! You are voting in November, right? Bush has ruined the economy."
Later, I spoke with someone else who said, "I've watched my 401k that I've been saving for twenty YEARS dwindle to nothing. And my company is in trouble because of the Real Estate."
I love AND respect these people. I dare not argue with them. They have always been liberal politically, and are strong proponents of equality, fairness, and JUSTICE.
In the interests of fairness and in honor of R.A.W. (Who took the time to address my points in a previous post), I decided to share my experiences from today.

Greetings from St. Pete.
There are McCain/Palin signs on every block.
You missed the point, Christina.
Go ahead and argue and express your points of view no matter how much they may ratlle "liberal" cages.
thats what life is all about.
when people dont feel comfortable enough to express their opinion out loud that may very well be a whole different kind of fascism and or terrorism caused by peoples overzealous partisanship, except its the american citizens doing it to each other.
I never want to be a part of that.
there are some people i know as friends whom I disagree with ,and they will say to me in the middle of a political discussion, "dude what are you getting so upset about? - take it easy " etc.
and it all cant be helped.
yet I like they still remain friends with people i think of as ignorant or crazy, and they stay friends with me even though they think the same of me.
I still think McCain can win this election (gag) but if thats what happens, and the elections are legitamate then its what the people wanted.
People I may think of as stupid, but people with every right to vote nonetheless.
then theres the discussion of Obama's ties: (oyeh!)
william airs = yeah Obama knew him but Obama didnt do anything wrong even if airs did, = so what?
rev right = yeah Obama was tight with him but Obama didnt do anything wrong even if right did, = so what?
acorn = yeah Obama made a speech there, and supported them but Obama didnt do anything wrong even if acorn did, = so what?
tony resko = yeah Obama knew him but Obama didnt do anything wrong even if resko did, = so what?
I think this is why nothing is sticking, they go after people that obama knows, or had some meeting with or association with at one time instead of going after Obama for things that Obama has done.
There are a lot of currupt people mixed up in politics, this is inarguable.
Yes there is a cult of personality around Obama, but its also true that most of the attacks are not on policies and important stuff that adress what the american people are going thru, but on wheter rev right hates whitey, wheteher Obama was indocrtinated to Islam at the age of 7 or whether Obama put his hand over his heart durindgt he pledge etc.
I find the coverage stupid when this is what people would rather talk about, and I havent watched any of the three debates except for highlights on youtube, it was all what I expected from these debates, and from what little ive seen of it = (yawn...zzzz)
Ive been avoidng the coverage.
I feel like now that this campagn has gone on for something like a few years.
Pro-Obama people seem overconfident, and pro McCain forces seem scared to death and determined to beat Obama.
This is a bad sign for Barack no matter what the polls say, which have been off by considerable margins over the past few years.
Every election cycle its like going through an american civil war of cultural values, and I find myself arguing more and more with others as the day approaches.
I remember going thru all this last time when Kerry ran.
This is life and weve all got to deal with it.
Three more weeks.
Is is racist to wear a McCain/Palin shirt?
While the Democrat-leaning media continues to scare undecided voters with bedtime stories about some mythical angry McCain supporter whom nobody has seen, here is a real district attorney’s complaint documenting an unprovoked assault by an enraged Democrat against a McCain volunteer in midtown Manhattan...
I exposed Obama.
