LDOTR: Savage Interviews Phil Berg
As discussed by some right wing commenters on some earlier posts since my conversion, Phil Berg (an ACLU lawyer and Democrat) is suing Barack Obama.
Tonight, Michael Savage had him on the air in his first hour. The allegations are … well, they are flat out amazing.
Of course, it’s one thing to read the bathroom-style scrawls on this blog from Right Wing Spammers … but to hear the guy suing Obama … and hearing that he’s a Democrat … it gives the guy credibility. He’s a former Attorney General in Pennsyvania. His experience is legit.
My faith in Obama is a bit shaken here. I need an explanation. The Constitution matters to me. Playing by the rules matters. IF this guy was not born here … I have a SERIOUS problem with that.
And I know I’m not alone.
Basically, as Savage puts it, “He charges that Obama was born in Kenya. Not one major newspaper will touch this.
And then, Savage asked, “Why won’t McCain touch this issue?”
I want answers to that question, as well as explanations as to why Phil Berg is wrong.

The reason why newspapers won’t touch this is because it’s like when people used to file suits against the IRS saying the Constitution has no provisions for federal income tax: it’s flaky and on the fringe.

Keep in mind, Berg attacked McCain’s qualification for being born in the Panama Canal by 2 U.S. citizens…he just wants publicity and money. A perfect Savage guest.

Problem with Berg- he uses wikipedia, screen names, and “anonymous” as citations.
When Barack was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, his father Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.
Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982.
The speculation was not based on any evidence. Bloggers raised questions based on the absence of evidence, specifically the lack of a publicly available copy of a birth certificate and the supposed “secrecy” surrounding it. For example, the conservative World Net Daily posted a June 10 article with the headline, “Is Obama’s candidacy constitutional?”
Here’s the simple summary–an authentic certificate of live birth was used as a template to create the so-called “birth certificate” “proof” posted.
Why doesn’t Barack come clean with his own, genuine Certificate of Live Birth? We do not know for sure but it appears that the name listed is that of BARRY SOETORO. Barry Obama was adopted by Lolo Soetoro and, by virtue of that adoption, was registered as Barry Soetoro in Hawaii.
This is a huge issue. Not only was the document forged, but the template used was Barack’s sister’s COLB.
I think when he tries to throw junior staffers under the bus on this issue, it’s going to be pretty interesting to wonder how those staffers got access to his sister’s COLB.
This is becoming surreal. We need answers, real ones, from Barack Obama.

He has no choice but to answer to the press why he did this.
Get ready for his flip, then his flop. There will never be a straight answer from Obama on any subject. Once you think you got a straight answer, he will change his position 180 degrees.

it is not legal for somebody to be president if they were not born in the united states.
im pretty sure this must have been checked out a long time ago and if Barack was not born in the U.S. he wouldnt be running for president now.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging Barack Obama’s qualifications to be president.
U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick on Friday night rejected the suit by attorney Philip J. Berg, who alleged that Obama was not a U.S. citizen and therefore ineligible for the presidency. Berg claimed that Obama is either a citizen of his father’s native Kenya or became a citizen of Indonesia after he moved there as a boy.
Obama was born in Hawaii to an American mother and a Kenyan father. His parents divorced and his mother married an Indonesian man.
Internet-fueled conspiracy theories question whether Obama is a “natural-born citizen” as required by the Constitution for a presidential candidate and whether he lost his citizenship while living abroad.
Surrick ruled that Berg lacked standing to bring the case, saying any harm from an allegedly ineligible candidate was “too vague and its effects too attenuated to confer standing on any and all voters.”
