Palin Shows Up and Brief Enneagram Analysis of the Two Tickets

From Reuters:

Both camps claimed victory in a debate unlikely to dramatically change a White
House race that Obama leads. Two polls taken after the debate, by CNN and CBS
News, judged Biden the winner, but the CNN poll found a big majority thought
Palin did better than expected.

With all eyes on Palin in her national debut in an unscripted format, the 44-year-old Alaska governor turned in a steady and aggressive performance in which she repeatedly attacked Obama and pledged she and McCain would work for the middle-class.

She frequently displayed the folksy style that has become a favorite target of late-night comics. “Aw, say it ain’t so, Joe,” she told Biden at one point, adding a “doggone it” for good measure.

I’m glad Palin got over her anxieties and got in the zone last night. Like Andy Pettitte, it appears she can be frustratingly inconsistent with a clutch mode for when the chips are down.

Apparently it wasn’t good enough to be Biden — just like Josh Beckett (eight) beating Andy Pettitte (six) in the World Series. It’s the reality we live in, folks — eights rule, sixes look like fools.

All that being said, if I had to choose which ticket is a better personality type team-up, it’s clearly McCain (four) and Palin (six) over Obama (seven) and Biden (eight).

A four/six team-up is reminiscent of The Brave and The Bold comics — Green Arrow and Green Lantern. It’s a good synergy.

A seven/eight combo, on the other hand … let’s put it this way — can you imagine Batman teaming up with the Hulk? They’re more likely to fight than to work together!

On that basis alone, McCain showed some wisdom in choosing Palin, and Obama showed his lack of knowledge on the subject.

Another consideration — Going back to 1960, it appears that the MEDIA (which, as a group acts like a six) enjoys playing Robin to a Democratic candidate in the seven/Batman role. Kennedy, Clinton were both sevens … as is Obama. The MEDIA will assist, help out, back-up, and do whatever it takes to assist that seven.

The loyalty that the MEDIA (and sixes, in general) shows to sevens … it’s sick, really.

I don’t think having an eight vice-president throws a monkey wrench in this theory. LBJ never seemed like a likable figure from my distant, historical perspective … based on that alone, I would have to assume he’s an unlikeable eight personality. I have heard anecdotal comments that he and JFK didn’t get along … so….

I’m sure, years from now, we’ll hear how Obama and Biden didn’t get along.

Looks like we’re in the Obama Sliders universe. Enjoy your stay.

Again, Palin had such low expectations going in (thanks to the bad Katie Couric interview, and Palin not giving the MEDIA full access to her) that of course she would “do better than expected”.

People had unrealistic expectations about how bad she was going to be.
