Random Comments: AVP Requiem

  • I love it when I have zero expectations and end up pleasantly surprised by a movie. To me, this is the secret to enjoying ... well, life.
  • The directors definitely paid homage to Alien and Aliens, which was cool.
  • Unfortunately, due to the familiarity with Aliens and Predators, along with the Director's quick pacing, there was very little actual suspense.
  • Plenty of Alien-on-human and Predator-on-human gore.
  • I'm glad the Aliens and Predator were both indifferent to humans. Neither were heroes.
  • HOWEVER, they took forever to introduce the strong female lead (who did a great job with the Sigourney Weaver-style role, once her part got rolling).
  • There was an article I read years back in some magazine about an Alien vs. Predator script that was never made. The story described in that article appears to have been the basis for this movie, which I thought was cool.
  • So, the 30 people on the planet who read that article will thoroughly enjoy seeing a movie based on a script that defied the odds of ever being made and saw the light of day.
  • AVP:R was better than AVP ... and yet, the masses appear to disagree with my opinion. I'll take homage over campy cheese any day.
