Request for Comments on Biden's Remarks
I want to get everyone's take on Joe Biden guaranteeing there would be an engineered international crisis to test Obama within six months of his inauguration. I'm on my mobile phone, so I cannot provide links to the ABC news story.
My take: highly irresponsible. More proof that Obama made a poor choice for VP. Biden is using scare tactics that Democrats derides Bush about. This is worse than Palin bombing on the Couric News Program. "Loose lips sink ships."
Let the apologies for Biden begin!

I believe this is the full quote you are referring to
“We’re going to face a major international challenge. Because they’re going to want to test him, just like they did young John Kennedy. They’re going to want to test him. And they’re going to find out this guy’s got steel in his spine,”
at best its bragging that Obama is up to the challenge.
at worst it seems like a cowboy attitude or a bring em on attitude, which is dumb.
I really dont know if hes saying anything that people dont already think.
Im not sure if I understand the controversy of this.
It seems like the McCain camp is grasping at straws in desperation, to make Biden look like he will be responsible if something happens after the election.
Is that what theyre saying on the other side?
I dont know.
Im not so sure I get this.
I know its a bad choice of words because the other side can use it to say that the world will test Obama, but not McCain.
"so all of you people out there had better vote for McCain or we will be blown up by terrorists!"
That will probably be the McCain camp's next statement to the public that they want to scare into voting for McCain.
I dont blame republicans too much for the fearmongering that they will do to the public, because they want to win.
but it shows theyve got no respect for the intelligence of the public if thats what they do.
I dont know, I guess theyll do whatever works.
This is a fight and there can only be one winner.
Okay, I volunteer to apologize for Biden. I like calls for posting comments, by the way. Sometimes I don't know if you want a post or not. Anyway...
I think RAW has the official and correct take on this: Biden is bragging that Obama is up to the challenge.
The criticism from the Republicans has been that that Obama will sit down and speak to rogue nations, and use UN or economic sanctions only, as opposed to striking first or use boots on the ground to fight, so Biden is trying to say Obama will be tough with foreign policy.
The irony is that I doubt Chavez, Putin, Iran (can't spell his name) or Raul Castro would want to do something to hurt Obama's open-mindedness anyway. Cuba unofficially endorsed Obama, and the world sees Obama as a populist anyway. I don't envision dictators wanting to push Obama right away.
Now...al Queda may try something because the White House may be in disarray and not be organized when preparing for a regime change. The Bush administration was in disarray trying to set things ups(actual logistics, paperwork, new workers, plans, briefings) after Clinton left office.
al-Queda may try something right after election time, as opposed to months after Obama settles in.
Way to go asshole Biden... predict an international crisis for the least experienced candidate of all time...that will put undecided voters at ease...is Biden campaigning for McCain? What else does your magic eight ball tell you. Joe?
joe got it right, russia and china support chavez- they now have a presence there and cuba is a handy place to make a beach head
Come to think of it, there must be a reason Admindinajad, Dr. Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers all support Obama.
Hmmm.
International crisis indeed.
Sounds to me like our own government has something planned for us to advance the New World Order. The financial crisis was just step three. Looks to me like we're being fattened up for the slaughter.
R.A.W - Biden appeared to be speaking from top secret knowledge that he and Barack were aware of. Does it bother you that he may be hinting at what our intelligence agencies know? He hinted that there are several scenarios, and I think he even mentioned a couple of countrues! If we know certain countries are plotting against, isn't it irresponsible to use that in a political campaign to brag about your candidate? Bush was ripped for using terrorism threat alerts in his campaign reelection.
Dami - feel free to leave comments.
Full Biden quotes...you be the judge:
"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."
Gird your loins," Biden told the crowd. "We're gonna win with your help, God willing, we're gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It's like cleaning the Augean stables, man. This is more than just, this is more than – think about it, literally, think about it – this is more than just a capital crisis, this is more than just markets. This is a systemic problem we have with this economy."
"I've forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know, so I'm not being falsely humble with you. I think I can be value added, but this guy has it," the Senate Foreign Relations chairman said of Obama. "This guy has it. But he's gonna need your help. Because I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, 'Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? Why is the polling so down? Why is this thing so tough?' We're gonna have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years. So I'm asking you now, I'm asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you're going to have to reinforce us."
"There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision'," Biden continued. "Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."
Biden emphasized that the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border is of particular concern, with Osama bin Laden "alive and well" and Pakistan "bristling with nuclear weapons."
"You literally can see what these kids are up against, our kids in that region," Biden said in recalling when his helicopter was forced down due to a snowstorm there. "The place is crawling with al Qaeda. And it's real."
"We do not have the military capacity, nor have we ever, quite frankly, in the last 20 years, to dictate outcomes," he cautioned. "It's so much more important than that. It's so much more complicated than that. And Barack gets it."
After speaking for just over a quarter of an hour, Biden noticed the media presence in the back of the small ballroom.
"I probably shouldn't have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here," he joked.
"All kidding aside, these guys have left us in a God-awful place," he then said of the Bush regime, promptly wrapping up his remarks. "We have the ability to straighten it out. It's gonna take a little bit of time, so I ask you to stay with us. Stay with us."
Come November the voters will decide whether our great country will be a Welfare State or an enlightened Capitalist State.
Over the past few days, the Obama campaign has been claiming — both in ads and in statements by Barack Obama himself — that John McCain would “cut” Medicare benefits by “$882 billion,” a charge that the Associated Press called “shaky” and that FactCheck.org bluntly dismissed as “bogus” and “false.”
Yet of the three broadcast networks, only ABC News has thus far joined the condemnation of Obama’s deceptive ad. NBC on Monday would only go so far as to say “McCain’s advisors say that’s not true...” — implying that it’s merely a partisan difference of opinion — while CBS has thus far refrained from questioning Obama’s truthfulness on this issue.
For weeks now, the networks have complained about the McCain campaign’s supposed nasty and unfair campaign attacks against Obama, so when will NBC and CBS join ABC in punishing this nasty and unfair charge from the Democrats?
Also:
The ABC network ignored for almost 24 hours the claim by Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden that Barack Obama will be tested by a major international crisis in the first (potential) six months of his presidency. Monday's "Good Morning America" skipped the story, as did that evening's "World News With Charles Gibson" and "Nightline."
