LDOTR: Francessa swayed towards Mussina

Several callers have mentioned that every pitcher with 100 or more wins over losses is in the Hall of Fame, and Mussina has over 100 wins over losses. That and his winning percentage have been big selling points to sway Francessa.

The people against Moose say he wasn't dominant enough. After a few of those calls, Francessa found ten of Moose's seasons that he deemed Hall of Fame caliber.

At one point, Francessa tried to compare Moose to Guidry as a way of showing that Moose didn't belong ... But that blew up in his face. Guidry only has approximately 170 wins! Silly comparison.

We'll see if the baseball writers are convinced by these arguments to let Moose in the Hall of Fame in five years....

Just heard Francessa interview Mussina. Great interview. The highlights for me:

- Being reminded that Moose outdueled Zito in the 2001 game 3 match-up against Oakland, with season on the line.
- They talked about his relief appearance against the Red Sox - Stottlemyre said he would start an inning, and he ended up coming in with 1st and 3rd with nobody out! He got a strikeout and double-play.
- Moose, when pressed, admitted he would vote Mussina for the Hall. He said he had a "Pretty decent career." Francessa said, "That's silly. You had a great career."
- Going to New York was the best eight years of his career.
- He had decided to retire in January of 2008 and decided not to announce anything.
- He'll be on the field this spring, watching his sons play Little League.
