Mortgage Crisis Ground Zero After-math

We were "told" that we would have a month before paying our first mortgage pmt, meaning one month without rent!

Then we were asked for $1,400 at closing. $400 was completely unexpected. Then we had $500 in repairs after the closing.

"The dishwasher passed inspection, and now it's not hooked up?"

"Why does the well-water smell?"

So, instead of a "Free month," we ended up paying MORE than the equivalent of two months rent.

As of January, I'm looking at a $2,000 short-fall that I cannot reconcile with my paycheck.

Thank Odin we're getting that $7,500 Bush-Pelosi-Reid incentive, along with tax refund.

If we can get another stimulus package check, that'll get us through all of 2009.

I was aware of the financial peril I entered into when I signed on the dotted line. I chose a January shortfall as a homeowner, as opposed to a March/April $2,000 shortfall without the Fed incentive.

I am not writing all this to say I was tricked.. I knew exactly what I was doing.

I am merely writing this to say how much I LOATHE the Real Estate profession. I signed on the dotted line DESPITE the false promises the Real Estate Agent gave, not because of them.

I will recommend my own mother to her not b/c she was great, but b/c I' d rather deal with the salesman I know than the liar I don't.

I accept reality for what it is. I know that, in an arm's-length transaction, everyone should feel screwed. After six months of delays, I'm sure the Real Estate Agent felt like she earned below minimum wage for all the hours she put in trying to get the house livable, dealing with obstinate banks, etc.

I don't blame the Agent. I merely LOATHE her profession, and the whole process.

No wonder people want hope and change. Maybe we deserve socialism as Karmic payback for the mountain of deceitful sales pitches uttered in this nation the past 232 years.

you got hosed.
happens to the best of them.
everybody gets hosed.
we live in a world of lies and rip-offs.
all they want is your money.
thats all any of them want.
good luck with the new house.
it sounds like you worked too hard to get it.
I guess the "Mortgage Crisis Ground Zero" series is over after about seven or eight parts to this saga, maybe you could turn it into a novel or something and try to get it published, a few extra characters and some exaggerations, and maybe there is a great dark comedy in there someplace.

who knows?

I know a guy. The only place on his dashboard that the receiver makes any sense at all is right over his gas gauge, so he put it there. He runs out of gas two times a month or so, but he can listen to Stern!

The co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team, Valerie Jarrett, told Brokaw that "given the daunting challenges that we face, it's important that president elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to **rule** day one."

I think the Republicans put McCain out there to lose on purpose.

"let's give Obama a chance to win so he can shut up and never run again".
