On the heels of a fantastic article about the floating time-line which causes continuity problems in Marvel and DC Comics, I now bring you PROOF that our reality/society/world operates on a 10-year sliding time-scale. Ken Salazar says….

The Interior Secretary has decided to put a hold on plans to allow companies to drill for oil off the east coast and Gulf of Mexico. He wants more public discussion, as well as exploration of renewable energy sources such as wind and ocean waves.

Sigh. My shoulders slump as I hear this on NPR.

The bait and switch that conservatives talkers like Rush predicted when Democrats allowed the drilling moratorium to end last year has come to pass.

Call me when GM starts selling electric cars for under $10,000 … or sail-cars.

I hope everyone enjoyed $4.00 gas … it's coming again….

Moore and Gaiman : Both dull and aimless.

My friend who didn’t read comics and introduced me to SandMan quit it somewhere during The Wake claiming it was random drivel. Neil’s so lazy that he doesn’t even have his victims defend themselves ever no matter how unlogical. His dialogue is dry. Also, his big contribution to comics after Sandman is that he spends his time fighting over Miracle Man, which he didn’t even create in the 40s, instead of making new comics for mature readers. SandMan#75 is the most full of dull crap.

Moore just takes concepts that aren’t his, tells boring dirty tales with them. Then acts upset once someone else “perverts” or “sullies” his “original creations” like Watchmen and refuses to work for said editor because someone else doing exactly what he does is “immoral”.

Those guys have done practically nothing and get endless amount of ass kissing no matter how lazy their work gets, it’s untrue.

Curt Swan… I’m afraid that to me he epitomises everything that I disliked about 60s DC – dull, lifeless posed characters, with no sense of movement (characters that hang in mid air with only movement lines to show how they got there), limited repertoire of facial expressions. Basically just bland, Dull Comics.

  • RobL says:

    Steve Ditko’s work is lifeless

  • Anonymous says:

Jack Kirby’s characters are stiff and his anatomy is faked.

  • Pete says:

Simon’s comments caused me to pull out my copy of Curt Swan: A Life in Comics. I would have sworn I saw a style-sheet by Swan for Supes’ face. I was right.

Simon. You’re simply WRONG when you say Swan had a limited repertoire of facial expressions. It’s just not so.

I might add that the fight between Superman and Luthor in Superman #164 is probably the most realistic, non-comic booky fight I’ve ever seen portrayed in comics.

And this from a S.A. Superman hater.

Frank Miller has never really wowed me too much it always feels like hes trying to hard and most of the artists he works with are bloody awfull.

  • Anonymous says:

Bendis =completely overrated and reflects everything that has gone wrong with the comic industry any mainstream comic work hes done has mostly been annoying to the point of having a headache or merely tolerable on the best of occasions.

  • Anonymous says:

Frank Miller is SO overrated. Hard Boiled was alright, the first half of Martha Washington was good… his Daredevil work was okay (Elektra: Assassin is his best as far as that strain of thing goes) and Year One was decent. His work is generally type mediocore. I DID NOT like The Dark Knight Returns (or Strikes Again, for that matter) at all and Sin City has always sucked. I used to think Ronin was decent (the only time he’s shown he has any sort of drawing capabilities) but I can’t even get through it any more. Fuck him and his overblown ego.

  • Jase says:

Kirby the artist was good too but I don’t think he was the end all be all some make him out to be.

  • Anonymous says:

    Stan Lee was a hack

    Gaiman’s overrated?!? lol

A best selling author many times over, respected by his peers, and successful in just about every medium he’s created for…..I think you have him confused with your boy Morrison, who is currently the MOST OVERRATED writer in the comicbook industry .
