Made in China: You Can’t Win

I'm looking at stakes and chains to keep my dog in the yard … the reason is that in two weeks, my Mom and Knowme will be alone with E. during the day. Neither are fond of dogs for some strange Enneagrammic reason that only Damian and I understand.

Anyway, as you can see from the photo, all my choices here are Made in China products. To quote an unreleased hit Billy and I wrote, " It's a sad, sad affair, over there."

    R.A.W. had said:

try to find products not made in china it is not easy.

then there is human nature as people just look at the price and buy whatever is cheapest.

but we cant change human nature.

first one company has a lower production cost and greater profits from doing business this way and then all companies end up doing it too to stay competitive or keep themselves from going out of business.

so now everybody has to buy made in china because all the other choices have been taken off the shelf.

then the american consumer has no choice anymore because everything is made in china which is pretty much where we are now.

Human nature will not change at the checkout line, or at the top.

    thats called free market competion
and in a competion there is a winner and a loser.

china is the winner and america is the loser.

The loser always ends up owing money to the winner.

But you cant change human nature.

plus because of this situation people cant afford anything anymore anyway, american companies cant compete against slave labor without changing our society into china's so instead we have about 10% unemployment because there are not enough jobs and jobs that dont pay enough money.

No one is blind to this except those that continue to trumpet that the united states continues to have the highest standard of living in the world and that its "the free market" that makes this country great.

theres nothing great about this situation.

There were tarrifs and better trade agreements before that protected the american people from this, but those free marketeers at the top – the owners, the shareholders with money and influence had washington change regulations and protections and said it would be good for everybody.

and those with the most money always have the most influence in government, this cannot be changed by electing "honest people" because as we all know, for every one person who is impervious to the infuence of money there are 10 who are not.

that is also human nature, and once again good luck trying to change human nature, it cant be done.

the american consumer cant be allowed to have the choice anymore if it creates more harm than good for the american people.
when I see made in china I avoid buying it.

this doesnt leave me with many choices and sometimes I leave a store with only half of what I wanted and have to go to a different store later.

I also dont shop at walmart.

The bailouts and social safety nets in America would not be necessary if we were not buying so many chinese products to begin with in the name of "free trade" wich has gutted the industrial base in our country.

    (taste the irony)

Its the freedom of the consumer to buy the cheapest product without any tariff on foreign goods to equalize prices that has caused our country to go bankrupt in the first place.

If everybody was like me in america this wouldnt be happening, but most people are not we are dealing with the consequences of human nature.

Two products on the shelf and one is less money, we all know what the herd will do.

so then all jobs move to china in the manufacturing sector in order to compete and the U.S. ends up with like 10% unemployment after a few years of this.

The american herd has to be controlled to so we can keep jobs in this country and compete, but america is a country that likes to cannibalize itself in the name of "free trade".

gatt and nafta did more harm to the american people than 9-11, I think current times prove this.

Its ironic in the name of freedom profits given to sweatshops on the other side of the world in a country without freedom.

But this practice is also called "freedom" over here.

Is it fascism to say this must be regulated so americans can have enough decent paying jobs?

shouldnt we get smart and decide to protect ourselves as a country?

  3. Maybe it's the 4:00am squeaky toy sessions (not complaining — it's merely a fact, and I am enjoying the whole experience), but I don't get it. I'm glad you copied that quote — that was the only thing I could find earlier, and it didn't make sense to me.

What's confusing me is — was my point about buying products from China tantamount to a disagreement with RAW? Call me crazy, but I think he and I are on the same page on this issue?

What. Pointing out that we're no better than northerners buying cotton from the south in 1850 is a non-sequitur because WE DON'T HAVE A CHOICE WHEN WE SHOP AT WAL-MART OR WHERE EVER? Is that the "toldja so"? That we're absolved of guilt because we are higher class serfs who have no choice in the matter?

I know … type 5. If he reads about the Nihilist, it's like looking into a mirror of thought and action. I know. I know.

Actually, he would deny being The Nihilist.

    That's what makes him…RAW.

Hit and run machine gun: "toldja so."

    Gotcha.

  5. Whew…just got back from Costa Rica. Who says you can't find true love there?

Now it's back to work on Monday.

    Damn.

    Oh, back on topic-

I probably sound like a broken record, but we are actually doing more good than evil by supporting Chinese products.

  6. there were no personal attacks.

    I just "told ya so."

    Its not a big deal.

It seemed like earlier on a related topic that you implied that the consumer had to make the choice to not buy products made in china in order to stop all this and the responsibility lied with the consumer because its the free market.

I view the average consumer as a mindless zombie and dont expect other people to care about the same things I do.

plus the media does not show what is going on on the other side of the world because they are too buzy reporting the ratings for american idol.

my earlier, more heavyhanded statements quoted by "DailySkewCoFounder" was supposed to be my explanation as to why the so called free market doesnt really work all the time because of the way most people are.

you are now looking for products not made in china but cant find them.

I didnt know that you were on the same page as myself on this issue, Im sure right now most people are.

Its funny to me that the "radical" left and "radical" right are on the same page on this issue while mainstream dems/repubs seem to want all of this to continue and say we have to keep doing this.

I still dont think of myself as a nihilist, or anarchist for that matter.

deep down inside, I hope there is not a word for what I am and that some new phrase will have to be invented in order to describe my "philosophy".

  7. Once again, we're on the same page. I thought the same thing about him denying the Nihilist comparison as I wrote it. However, truth is truth, whether he verbally bends himself into a pretzel or not.

  8. How about RAW Nihilanarchist?

Calling a piece of shit a "waste product" doesn't change its true nature.

  10. If you buy a watch you expect it to keep time and to run. If you buy a shirt you expect it to be the same material and color all the way around. If you buy pants you expect both legs to be the same length. If you buy a radio you expect to be able to use it. The list goes on. It is not just Chinese products, it is any product. Made in America, China, Italy any country. If you have to get up in the morning and go to work to earn money, you expect the things you spend this money on to be what they are advertised to be. Most people do not think of many items as disposable after one use.

  11. nah i like the high pass : ) all photos doesnt have to look super realistic….

  12. Basically (I don't know if I spelled that right : ) Japan took the characters of china and “kind of” switched them around to make there own vowels and everything right? :o LOL I watch hetalia and i did't understand if when china (I think episode 14 O.o) said japan was making his own characters.
