Message to Myanmar "Buddhists"
Any Myanmar Buddhist who is okay with the minority Rohingya population being treated like slaves is not a Buddhist.
The NPR report I heard this morning was a reminder of how sick people in power can be. The Myanmar Government come off sounding like Nazis, basing their prejudice against the Rohingyas on skin color, appearance, and being from neighboring Bengal — albeit 100's of years ago. The Rohingyas populace starves and perform back-breaking work while the rest of the populace benefits.
Kudos to NPR for reporting on this at least once.

I read about that at Amnesty International…another example of a corrupt government hiding behind an organized religion or authority to carry out violence.
The Myanmar government denies the evidence of killing, rape, etc.
They blame the limited resources and poverty there to justify the class injustice.
Anyway, power corrupts, and it's very easy for these sick guys in power to label "other people" and justify treating them live slaves.
For the record, the historical Buddha was against any type of caste system, which is one reason why he rebelled against Hinduism.
Unfortunately there are some weird branches (especially local traditions and governments in Asia) of Buddhism that get away from the Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path.
