Noble Prize Physics: CCD
Well, as a former manager at the world's largest scanning company, I'd like to take the time and personally thank and congratulate William Boyle and George Smith, who in 1969, while working for Bell Labs, invented the CCD (which stands for Charged-Coupled Device). Taking Einstein's discovery of the photoelectric effect, these two created the technology that would change the world of photography and imaging forever.
Their invention was used on the microfilm, microfiche, and aperture card scanning machines I operated and managed for years. These two had a direct effect on my life, providing the technology that would keep me employed and put food on the table for my family while I finished college.
Again — thanks, and congratulations to William Boyle and George Smith on winning the Nobel Prize for Physics.

I was speaking to Barry Allen on Facebook just now…he said if Boyle and Smith didn't invent CCD, somebody else would, and you should not have thanked them for that. He also said if Hitler did not exist, someone else would have taken his place.
Before he signed off he wrote "lets go twins".
I think Barry Allen and the Borrower are kindred spirits. I think we should ask Barry to post on the Addictions blog, to express his thoughts and opinions.
