Yankees ALCS Game 4 – C.C., Melky, A-Rod, Tim McClelland
Well, tonight's an off-night for me. I'm mentally drained from work, and we had Make-a-Wish reps come by tonight … which was cool, except they don't come by unless your child is really ill. Bubba had fun talking about his wishes, his favorite things, etc. For the record, he's doing great, and is just fighting off a small cold.
Anyway, back to the ALCS game 4 coverage:
- I tuned in just in time to see Jeter get picked off at 1st base. I shut the TV. Bubba and I briefly comiserated about Jeter. He mentioned that he talked about the Yankees with the Make-a-Wish people. I know he also talked Batman and Disneyland to them, so we'll see.
- I rejoined the game in the 4th after watching this CRAZY Star Trek episode, with this guy who had a handlebar moustache and wore a pirate outfit. He had three babes with him that he referred to as "Cargo." What an episode. Great scenes, with the crew getting all hot and bothered, and the miner acting like he didn't need a woman cooking for him, only to take her suggestion for cleaning the pots and pans with the blasts of sand outside.
Well, while I've been recounting this, Melky got a big hit after Swisher drew a clutch walk.
Okay, Swisher caught a huge break at 2nd base. Tim and Joe are wondering why Aybar didn't argue the call — maybe he doesn't want to peeve the umpires.
Nice sac fly … Oh, wait! No! They called Swisher out at 3rd! They're saying he left too early! Damn!
What a make-up call by the Umps! I guess the scales of justice have been balanced?
Black-eyed-peas again? I wonder how the cable companies feel about movie stars and musicians doing promos for Directv?
I tuned out mentally and read skew.dailyskew.com. Cool Silver Age Green Lantern stuff.
A-Rod hits another home run! Glad Texiera got a hit in front of him.
All right. Darren Oliver on the mound. Good night.
Okay … I just watched 3rd Base Umpire Tim McClelland blow another call! This was in the Yanks favor … but it was bad. I have never seen someone not standing on a base get tagged and not called out.
Why ™would Cano just stand there like that, a foot off the bag? What was that all about? Stand on the bag or run back! He's lucky he wasn't called out! Embarrassing!
And what was Jorge doing? Just run, man.
5:39am — aaaannnd theeeeeee Yankees WIN! C.C. with eight innings of 1-run ball on three days rest! The Melky and Damon tacked on some more wins! Diamond Mind great Chad Gaudin pitches a scoreless 9th! WOOOooooooo!
