Hope for Haiti Now!
I just watched the Hope for Haiti benefit concert. In case you missed it, here are my impressions:
- Overall, great job by all the celebrities and musicians involved
- Anderson Cooper and Dr. Gupta have raised the bar for journalist, getting involved in the tragedy, as opposed to just standing apart and observing
- I think Madonna found the fountain of youth along the way — she looked and sounded like she stepped out of 1989 to sing “Like A Prayer”
- We loved Sting pointing out that there are too many photo ops and not enough help in his song
- Beyonce had a really emotional rendition of Halo
- Christina Aguilera is the Queen of Soul
- Jennifer Hudson did a fantastic job with her rendition of Let It Be
- The Sheryl Crow/Kid Rock/Keith Urban (I think) version of “Lean on Me” was awesome
- Stevie Wonder was terrific, as usual
- The Justin Timberlake “Hallelujah” duet was fantastic. My wife G. was real impressed that he stepped away from the overdubbed vocals and let his voice shine
- Coldplay proved once again why they’re a great band
- Wyclef did a great job closing out the benefit concert, with some inspiring “Ra Ra” carnival music at the end
Anyway, text the word “GIVE” to 50555 to donate $10 to Hope for Haiti Now.
If you want to pre-order the concert benefit music, check out itunes.com/haiti. It’s $7.99, and 100% of the proceeds are going to help Haitian victims that survived the earthquake.
As always, we here at the DailySkew put our money where our mouth is. We’ve given. Now it’s your turn.
