The Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes is a crazy opportunity. They are giving the grand prize winner the opportunity to rent out an entire hotel for a weekend (two nights). We’re talking about you and 100 of your closest friends.

I recently heard about a study that said humans can only keep track of 150 friends. I guess it’s called Dunbar’s number, according to Wikipedia. Anyway, this Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes is going to push your cognitive ability to keep track of your friends to the limit!

We went ahead and signed up for the fun of it. Let’s see … how would I reach 100 invitees to the hotel for a weekend? Man, what a melting pot of humanity.

Beyond my immediate friends, like Damian and Kermit, which probably brings the number to 10 or so, there’s also family members. That gets us to probably 25 or 30.

I guess if we’re including friends with children, or friends who bring along some of their family, that would probably get us over the halfway mark. My buddy Billy, for example — I’m friends with most of his family and their friends, so that probably 20 or 30 people right there.

I guess the remaining slots would go to people I hadn’t seen in a long time who I wouldn’t mind getting reacquainted with. Perhaps some former scanner operators I worked with, or people I used to know at college.

I suppose creating the list of 100 is only half the battle. After that, you have to figure out how you’re going to see everybody. I personally like spending time with people individually — we’d probably have to treat it like a wedding reception one night, where everyone eats dinner together and people give speeches.

Anyway, those are nice problems to solve. With 100 guests and $5,000 to pay all the taxes for the stay, you can see that the Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes is a unique opportunity to get reacquainted, reminisce, and have fun. The contest is open to everyone, so check it out.
