Jacko – What Enneagram Type?

I've been thinking about where to put Michael Jackson on the Enneagram Who's What list. After reading Damian's excellent study on Type One, I decided to throw the question out there.

I did a brief search, and found sites that claimed he was a Four, with possibly a three wing. Since I tend to disagree with E-gram forums on personality types of celebrities, I was skeptical.

Besides, the three-wing didn't make sense.

I don't really know much about Jackson, other than enjoying his hit music over the years and the retrospectives that have been playing non-stop for the past week. Based on what little I do know, including the fact that he has been reclusive, somewhat mysterious, valued his privacy, and produced albums sporadically — I saw a bit of Type Five there.

The theme of alienation that runs through some of his songs could indicate Type Four or Type Six.

I found it interesting that he wrote most of the songs on Bad. Songs like Dirty Diana and Smooth Criminal have dark themes. Heck, the song Thriller from the previous album of the same name is one of the darkest pop songs, lyrically, I've ever heard.

In his videos, he loved varied settings … he was obviously a fan of old movies, sci-fi, and sentimental imagery.

Anyway, I don't have a firm fix on his type. I could definitely argue he's a five with a four or six wing, or a four or six with a five wing.

Considering the stories of him being beat by his father as a child and never having a childhood, I also wonder if he started as a five and was "rewired" into a four.

One final point, which is more of a side-note: I wonder if Michael Jackson is the exception to the rule that there are no environmental excuses for poor choices and poor behavior. I know every rule has an exception, and I wonder if he is the case study for celebrities.

  1. I'd also like to mention — the video We Are the World felt like a Crisis of Infinite 80's Musicians, and Liberian Girl felt like Crisis of 80's Celebrities.

The Captain EO superhero outfit he wears in We Are the World is over-the-top but cool at the same time. That white glove is crazy. I think he was a comic book fan/geek at heart.

His connection with kids (knowing how they feel and treating them as equals) and being the exception to rules for almost everything made me think he was a Four. Most Fours think they are "unique" and make it a self-fulfilling prophesy.

His main goal in life was searching for his identity, and he was literally a chameleon.

He would rather take a break from the world and search for himself or search for an ideal mate than to make albums.

He did not think rules of society applied to him, thus his special relationships with kids (odd in today's world) and his bleaching/cosmetic changes.

Remember he had the red armband on when he married Presley's daughter? HiStory's promos at the time seemed very fascist to me. He really didn't have a solid identity.

I spoke with Dr. Richard Hoffman, and he agrees with this, but also concurs with how we see 5 and 6 in him as well.

He was a kid that never grew up..The Jackson Five, for as much as people want to romanticize Baby Michael- was too dark and grim on the inside.

I have not watched or read ANY coverage about Michael Jackson Secrets Revealed this week, but I doubt my view would change.

I had already known about how his brothers would have orgies in their bedroom, and they told little Mikey to keep his eyes shut.

He did. Real tight. But he heard the sounds.

My mom and I pretty much were obsessed with "We are the World" and "Live Aid" at the time.

I actually had to memorize the song…it felt like a giant Marvel Team-Up to me at the time. I mean even *Bob Dylan* participated.

  4. I'm not sure about the wing, but definitely he was a Four of some sort (actually his wings seemed to be balanced).

I don't believe that his environment could have turned him from a 5w4 to a 4w5 however – this cannot happen due to the different coping methods of each type.

Personality doesn't really change, it only becomes more/less intense.

I'd say in Michael's case, the bad parenting and childhood frustrations fell on fertile ground, as the Four personality tends to feed on its past disappointments.

I personally think silver dollars have a lot of personality and are very entertaining to watch.

    Scientific Name: Metynnis argenteus
    Common Names: Silver Dollar
    Family: Serrasalmidae
    Sub-Family: Myleinae
Origin:Guyana, Amazon east of the Rio Negro
Sex: Anal fin of male is larger with a reddish tinge
    Breeding: Egglayer
    Size: 5 inches
    Level: Middle
    Temperature: 75 – 82 F
    pH: pH 5.0 – 7.0
Hardness: Soft to medium hard water
    Tankmates: Shy, peaceful, community fish
    Diet: Herbivore

I'd say 2 would fit in your 30 gallon. They are a schooling fish so keeping only one may make it lonely. I have 4 at home in my 55 gallon and they love to eat real aquarium plants, except java moss, and java ferns. So if you have a planted tank, Silvers are not a good idea cause they will eat all the plants in a matter of days. Also freeze dried shrimp is a good treat for them once in a while, mine love it! It's awesome to watch them ^^ Hope you consider them!
