Michael Savage = Bugs Bunny
I've thought Michael Savage sounded a lot like Bugs Bunny for awhile now. After watching some old Looney Tunes cartoons wiyth my kids recently, I'm convinced. He definitely has the laugh down pat, and when he does a liberal voice, that is total Bugs.
Also, when he verbally italicizes a word ("LAWyer"), I think that's a Looney Tunes move, as well.
I suspect a few things:
- Savage is a Looney Tunes fan
- Mel Blanc loved using that New York accent for Bugs
- Savage relishes his New York roots
To me, there are many, uh, ethical and moral lessons embedded in those cartoons. You know, like how to pull a prank on your daffy friend while travelling past Alburqurque, or how to laugh at your enemy … regret after finally defeating your enemy in the middle of an opera. This skew'd view of reality is important if you're trying to understand or cope with real life insanity.
It's no surprise, if you think about it, that the wascily wabbit would inspire an independent talker years later.
Now, this may add to RAW's theory that Savage is doing a giant Phil Hendrie bit; personally, I think he's serious, but is also laughing at the absurdity of life and politics. I think, like Looney Tunes, he's using macabre humor to get his skew'd viewpoint across to the audience.

D: Great Mel Blanc thoughts…it's amazing how much of those old cartoons- although made in Hollywood- CLEARLY were inspired by Da Bronx, New Yawk City, and the urban life. I was shocked to read that Blanc himself was not a New Yorker…I thought he was like Jack Kirby or Stan Lee or Joe Simon, but his voices weew clearly inspired by the east coast, no doubt.
For the record, I believe Savage is pulling an Andy Kaufmann.
but what about beck, limbaugh and coulter?
arent they also pulling a kaufman too?
its as good of an explanation as any other.
what if everybody's just faking it and nobody means what they say?
think about it, its not that crazy.
D: Yes, R.A.W. The others are the same. When we found out Rush was playing golf with Bill Clinton and laughing, we knew radio talk show hosts = pro wrestling "managers".
I equated Kauffman to Savage specifically because Savage is able to really do the insane angry neurotic Bronx white guy to the max so we don't know if he's "real" or not- so much where Muslims and England and some liberals want him DEAD.
EDIT: Spitball is number 35
The La-Lob, Leephus, Space Ball, Folly Floater, The Fosh, Fossum Flip, Dead Fish, and Bugs Bunny are all just nicknames of a pitch you have already named.
If you want those, Randy Johnson's slider is nicknamed Mr. Slappy.
