Limbully, Greece, EU, austerity, unemployment, Rick Santelli

What I learned listening to Rush:
- the doublespeak drop in unemployment to 9.7% includes, according to CNBC's Rick Santelli, a drop in the number of available jobs from 136 million to 129 million ... this helps explain how unemployment went down even though job losses continue to increase

- "America is no longer in the driver's seat of this economic bus"

- "never trust information coming out of a closed society or socialist governments," including China and U.S.

- perspective: press release dated August 1st 2003 from Queen Pelosi, bemoaning the loss of 3 million jobs after 9/11 ... meanwhile, we've seen 8 million jobs lost during the Great Recession

- Greece must reduce their deficit to 2% of GDP by 2012, according to EU -- it's currently 12% ... imagine if China made such demands on us

OPINION ALERT

This is not the first time the EU has enforced austerity rules on member countries. I have no problem with this, and wish China would call our bluff.

FYI -- I am a Godzilla fan.

- Rush joked that since unemployment is down, we won't be needing a jobs spending plan

- Rush gets called "Limbully" by a wealthy female Boca resident ... she actually mentioned Savage as another example of bullies who attack Obama

Eric Holder, Underwear Bomber, Toyota Gas Pedal Recall

In case you missed it, here's a summary of yesterday's DailySkew Radio Podcast. Tony Vahl discussed:

- Attorney General Eric Holder blaming the FBI for the underwear bomber being tried in a criminal proceeding, and not a military tribunal

- the Toyota gas pedal recall
-- is it really a computer chip problem?

Be sure to listen closely for the moment when Tony Vahl's cell phone gets cut off, as it inspires this deep thought provoking question: Did Eric Holder push the button?

FYI -- this podcast is now also available at Stitcher.com, for all you smartphone users!

2010-02-04 Best of Savage Quotes

Here are some great quotes from tonight's Best of Savage Nation show that I caught:

- While talking about how when your luggage goes through airport security, you lose whatever privacy you had: "When you leave this life, you take nothing. God won't even let you bring an overnight bag."

- "When a nation loses it sovereignty, the sovereignty of the individual is next."

- "Read the last paragraph of 1984 and weep in your gin."

Locked in, Obama's West Wing

What I've learned today:

BBC:
- some people thought to be in a vegetative state are actually "Locked in" -- they are conscious, just unable to talk or move. The researchers managed to communicate with one person via eye blinks or something and get yes or no answers to their questions.

Glenn Beck:
- George W. Bush's West Wing had classic paintings of Washington and Lincoln on the wall in the hallways. Barack Obama's West Wing is lined with some 300 11" x 14" photos of Obama in various activities ... these photos are changed weekly.

OPINION ALERT

Sheesh. The President really is a narcissist.

It's like history started in 2009, when he was inaugurated!

The photos are changed weekly? Holy cow -- that's bad.

Side-note: the one thing I got watching Obama debate the Republicans last week was that he is AWARE of what his critics say. He spoke like a man who has heard or read what Glenn Beck and the like say, and was ready to speak out against them.

I find it unnerving that he is not above-the-fray, but instead likes to mix it up, directly addressing talk show hosts and pundits.

- Yesterday, Beck played a clip where Obama, stuttering and stammering, explained that portions of Obamacare that will prevent insured citizens from keeping their plan were "snuck in".

OPINION ALERT

How does something like that get "snuck in"?

Why (tm) doesn't he take responsibility for the screwed up state of Obamacare, with no equivocations?

I guess Nancy Pelosi is still Queen Pelosi -- we should pay more attention to her than Obama. I guess Obama, like Bush, is more of a Prime Minister than President.

- the Nazis learned politics from Woodrow Wilson, or something like that

- Obama encourages Democrat politicians to not watch the news networks or read blogs because it's an "echo chamber"

- barackobama.com has video of teenagers explaining how they have to teach politics to their parents
