Full Moon, Thank God

Here's a photo of the full moon. Thank God it's back. The photo doesn't do the scene justice — there was this huge thin canopy of clouds with the moon peaking through. I felt like I was at a planetarium.

Photos: Sunrise, Sunset, Endless Clouds

While clearing out my Blackberry, I ran across these photos of sunrise, sunset, and endless clouds. I’m not sure if they ever saw the light of day or not — so, either way, here they are:

Vanilla Sky photo

Here's another Vanilla Sky photo, in case you missed the real thing this morning.

Dog vs. Turtle

My puppy, a.k.a. this dog – this monster (thanks Damian for the subtle Ben Grimm Enneagram Type 7 analogy, even if it was unintentional), spotted a turtle the other day on a walk.

He approached the turtle carefully before pouncing. The turtle hid in his shell. He pounced again — never touching the shell, just sniffing and analyzing.

We walked away … when we walked by the same spot, my puppy searched and searched and could not find the turtle … he was gone!

Cloud machines

While I was driving the other day, I caught these images of smokestacks emitting plumes of white smoke during a cloudy day … my sci-fi mind imagined cloud machines at work!

Can you trust the Gorton’s fisherman?

The following is not an advertisement or a hoax:

As you can see from this photo, truth can be stranger, or in this case smaller, than fiction.

We bought the Gorton’s fisherman garlic and herb fillet thingie, which is advertised to come with six fillets. The picture shows this huge portion, and the box is big enough to make you believe it.

I just looked at the front of the box again, and, nope. There is no disclaimer saying, “Item displayed is larger than it is in real life” or whatever.

As you can see from the above photo, the “fillet” amounts to a fish stick.

Now, I know times might be tough for the Gorton’s fisherman, out there trolling in Long Island or where ever, but can this composite corporate character seriously expect me to have faith in him after this? I ask you: can you trust the Gorton’s fisherman?

As I am now under contract with my doctors and the meat industry to eat flesh of other sentient beings for the next 15 years ($4.00 per gallon of gas last summer was my price — what’s yours?), I have very little alternative on this subject. I am forced to feed on the LIES that frozen foods have to offer on the weekend before Thanksgiving, when we will be leaving town and there’s no point in stocking the fridge full of food. So, whereas we normally fry our own fish in a fryer (you know, with fillets that are the size of the ones pictured on the BOX), my family is now forced to eat, eat, eat fish sticks fillet for dinner.

To his credit, the Gorton’s fisherman stuck a seventh fish stick in the box, probably out of guilt.

Look, if you’re going to sell fish sticks, just call them fish sticks, okay? Thanks.

Flags at half-staff, Wash Natl Airport

Here's a photo of a flag flying at half-staff, outside Washington National Airport, due to the mass murder shootings by the psycho-psychiatrist at Fort Hood , Texas. I hope the doctors where "Dr." Hasan is laid up in a coma are, uh, taking care of him, so to speak.

Here's another photo of a beautiful dawn out here in Hazard County.

Photo Sunday Morning Dawn

Here's a photo of dawn this Sunday morning, with a ray of sunlight peaking over the horizon.
