Things I learned listening to NPR and BBC:
- I learned that the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and CFTC (Commodities Futures Trading Commission) are two separate government agencies that need to be combined in order to properly regulate financial markets, but it won't happen because agencies don't want to lose their existence and congressmen don't want to lose their committee positions and power.
- Maoists in India are unstoppable, apparently? Some Indian official was saying how it's a great internal security threat.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the caste system over there….
